Truck was stolen, this was left behind — 1 square inch PCB with a tiny black button.

So a week ago my truck was stolen, key fob was left inside (I know, I know). But it was recovered. Yay!

However in giving it a through clean, I noticed this was left behind. It’s a small printed circuit board that has tiny click button. Mainly I am trying to determine if it’s nefarious or not. Guessing not.

My title describes the thing.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE ANSWERS:

  1.  That board looks like it has one button, one 4-pin contact, and three solder pads, two of which have legs from something that broke off. The numbers are too generic to be of much help. Given how incomplete it is it’s likely going to be very difficult to tell what it’s from. It could be a broken module from the truck, like from the steering column, or dashboard somewhere.
  2. It doesn’t have any chips on it, so, not a tracker or any of that other BS from the other commentors. Can you post a pic of the other side and another of this one off to the side so we can see the height of the components. This one is ambiguous.
  3. When you Google those numbers, the only results are for “stolen vehicle recovery devices”.
  4. This does, in fact, appear to be a part of an aftermarket anti-theft tracker/kill switch. Potentially installed by the thieves or by the dealership and went unnoticed until now.
  5. This is part of GPS tracker that used to be inside your car that the thieves removed. They found and destroyed your LoJack ( well, not that brand but similar device )
  6. Usb power push button start. Lacking a few other pieces.
  7. Typing “884-315-05” into Google gives me GPS tracker results.
  8. So the pins do not look like usb pins, they look like simcard pins. like half a contact pad for sim card pins… The numbers when googled do show some gps tracking products and an article and nothing else, I don’t know why people are downvoting the people who said so..
  9. Shot in the dark but if your driving a Truck, it could be a usb FOSCscan hack tool… or piece of one anyway, if you have a push start ignition can be used to force start your truck, bit only really works on Ford Raptors as far as i have searched…. but again, complete shot in the dark
  10. More angles, please! The pins almost look right for USB, but it also sort of looks like pins meant to contact something else that is screwed onto it.
  11. It’s a riser board (or wired remote) for some type of device. Not much to go on.It has a momentary switch and an LED. Could indicate if power is on or to change modes.
  12. It is likely the circuitry of a key fob in my opinion. It definitely was meant to be housed in some kind of casing. A quick search shows circuitry similar, but not exact.
  13. Anything on another side – if so, can you take a picture of it?What is clear is that it is a part of a device. Could be part of a GPS tracker, but it could be a part of anything.
  14. It looks like the chip inside garage door openers. If that black spot is a small button like thing, I think I may be right lo
  15. It’s from a keychain flashlight that charges by USB. It’s small round with a button in the middle just like that. It has a cap over the usb port that stays attached to the keyring
  16. Power board for some random electronic. Led lights up when power is allied. I’ve seen similar in gaming consoles but cant Id it.Also did find a company that used the same numbering format that makes operating system boards but it was all in Japanese so no clue what for.
  17. Just a guess based on a bunch of “what if” but, if it was a newer truck with a wireless fob for push to start, they could have emulated/relayed your key fob and that part part could’ve accidentally been dropped, because it looks like it could be used to interface some of the required equipment together that would be used for doing something like that. Then again, could be nothing. BIG “what if”.
  18. A piece to a USB, possibly one connected to one gang stealing KIA’s
  19. USB killer?
  20. This looks like an LED light. Probably the dome light.
