Gerry Turner, 74, and Theresa Nist, 70, have decided to end their marriage after just a few months.
The beloved couple, who found love on the first season of The Golden Bachelor, made the announcement on Good Morning America Friday.
Turner shared with Juju Chang, “Theresa and I have had many heartfelt conversations and reflected on our living arrangements. After careful consideration, we have mutually agreed that it is time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
Nist added, “We have received an overwhelming amount of love and support from everyone who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and we want to maintain that hopeful spirit. We hope this decision doesn’t change our fans’ positive outlook on love.”
Love Found, But Love Lost
Turner proposed to Nist during the grand finale of The Golden Bachelor, and the couple tied the knot at a lavish ceremony earlier this year. Initially, they were determined to make the long-distance relationship work, but they soon realized their deep dedication to their families would make it impossible.
“We explored several options, including moving to South Carolina or even New Jersey, but ultimately, we felt too committed to our respective families to make that sacrifice,” Turner shared. “Our joint conversations highlighted our unwavering commitment to our loved ones. And after considering it all, we both agreed that living apart would bring us the most happiness.”
Although Turner and Nist are parting ways, their love for each other will always remain. “I still love Theresa. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m still in love with her. I wish her the best every single day,” Turner expressed.
Nist replied with affection, “And I still love him too.”
