Asking Questions
Little Johnny, a seventh-grader, frequently asked his teacher many questions.
One day, he asked his English teacher, “Why do we ignore some letters in pronunciation, like the letter H in ‘hour’ and ‘honour’?”
His English teacher explained, “We’re not ignoring them; they’re considered silent.” However, this explanation left Johnny even more confused.
Lunchtime Mischief
During the lunch break, his teacher gave him her packed lunch and asked Johnny to heat it in the cafeteria. Instead, Johnny ate all the food and returned the empty container.
His English teacher, surprised, asked, “What happened? I told you to heat my food. Why are you returning an empty container?”
Little Johnny replied, “Madam, I thought ‘H’ was silent.”
