Before her death, Doherty shared a poignant post online. Throughout her illness, she regularly updated fans about her condition. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she revealed it had metastasized to a lymph node.

Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments, the 90210 star initially went into remission. However, the cancer returned. In 2020, she announced the devastating news of her stage four breast cancer, indicating the disease had spread to various parts of her body.

The Battle Intensifies

By 2023, Doherty confirmed that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and bones. She underwent surgery that removed almost all of a brain tumor.

In her last social media post, she shared a clip from the Let’s Be Clear podcast on Instagram. She spoke about her ongoing chemotherapy and the uncertainty of her treatment’s duration.

Doherty expressed a mixture of fear and hope, mentioning the change in her cancer cells’ molecular structure, which allowed for new treatment protocols. Despite her struggles, she remained hopeful due to these new options.

A Heartfelt Confirmation

Doherty’s death was confirmed on July 14 by her friend and publicist Leslie Sloane. She passed away on July 13, surrounded by loved ones and her dog, Bowie.
