If you’ve been spending a lot of time on social media lately, I’m willing to bet you’ve seen at least one photo or video of Dalgona coffee. The idea behind Dalgona coffee originated in South Korea, and it’s quickly become the latest internet craze. You’ll commonly see Dalgona coffee referred to as whipped coffee, cloud coffee, and even quarantine coffee. So, what exactly is it, and why are people so enthralled with this drink?
Dalgona coffee can be made by mixing together two tablespoons of instant coffee, two tablespoons of hot water, and two tablespoons of sugar. Use a frother or a hand mixer to mix the ingredients until it has a whipped, foamy consistency. Simply top a cup of milk (or milk alternative) with the solution, and your coffee is complete.
Looking for more of an iced coffee vibe? Don’t heat your milk, and add an ice cube or two. For a regular warm coffee, heat the milk first. The end result is a very fancy-looking coffee, but one that’s extremely quick and simple to make. And it’s not just aesthetically pleasing – it’s also pretty darn good. So, are you going to hop on board this viral trend? Or would you rather stick with your tried and true, plain old black coffee? The choice is yours, but it’s always entertaining to try something new – especially while we’re all stuck at home, looking for something to do. Enjoy!
