Dad Leaves Heartfelt Note For Son Who Was Scared To Come Out To Him.

After a dad overheard his son feeling anxious about coming out as gay to his family, he made sure to immediately quell his fears with a heartfelt note.

While being LGBTQ+ is much easier in the modern era than it was for generations past, some people still feel panic over fears of coming out to their parents. Fortunately for many, the panic isn’t necessary.

For a man named Nate, his family went a step further when they found out he was hiding his true feelings. Not only did they accept him with open arms, but they made him understand that being gay was as normal as a loaf of bread.

Nate’s dad heard a conversation Nate was having with his boyfriend, Mike, one night. Instead of confronting him and adding any extra awkwardness, he penned a letter. Nate was so touched that he posted a photo of the note online, and it’s since made its way through social media.

note to son

“I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me,” it reads. “The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out like you now.”

Nate’s father took it a step further and explained that he already knew his son’s heart and had for years.

“I’ve known you were gay since you were six,” he added. “I’ve loved you since you were born—Dad. P.S. Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.”

The note first appeared online in 2013, but it’s remained relevant and celebrated for its simple, unconditional love.

Share this story to remind your friends and family that parents accept their children for who they are, and everyone should be comfortable being true to their heart.
