Jordan Driskell, a 31-year-old dad with five-year-old quintuplets, has faced backlash for employing child leashes to handle his lively children. Taking care of five kids who are all the same age can be challenging, so Driskell chose to use leashes to guarantee their safety when they are out in public.
Driskell’s family used to have a stroller with six seats, but it became inconvenient as the kids got older. The leashes now let his children explore while still being supervised by him.
Their visit to the aquarium was captured on video and received more than 3 million views, leading to a heated discussion. Certain individuals expressed disapproval of using leashes, while others proposed alternative approaches to parenting or training.
Dr. Deborah Gilboa supports using leashes for young children or those with neurological differences, but suggests moving towards verbal communication as kids get older.
Parents should have the freedom to select their own parenting techniques without facing excessive criticism. What do you think about children using leashes in public? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
