Recent Deal for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune
Vanna White, the beloved game show icon, has secured a pay raise for her participation on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, according to a recent report. Negotiated by her attorney Bryan Freedman, the deal is valued at $100,000 per episode, a significant increase from her previous contract.
Challenges Remain for Regular Wheel of Fortune
However, negotiations for her role in the regular Wheel of Fortune, especially following Pat Sajak’s departure, are still ongoing, leaving her compensation uncertain.
Disparities in Compensation
White’s new deal for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune marks a notable uptick from her previous contract, where reports suggest she had gone without a raise for 18 years. Nonetheless, discussions about her compensation for the main show, which she has been part of since 1982, have hit roadblocks.
Seeking Fair Share
Currently earning $3 million annually, significantly less than Sajak’s reported $15 million, White has requested 50 percent of Sajak’s earnings. Negotiations on this matter, along with her potential share of the $400,000 weekly salary for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, are ongoing.
Unresolved Negotiations
Despite reaching an agreement on the spinoff, deliberations about White’s ongoing involvement in the original show remain unsettled. With Sajak set to retire and Ryan Seacrest poised to take over, White feels undervalued by the situation.
Challenges with Negotiations
Attempts to evaluate the significance of both Sajak and White’s contributions through mediation were rejected by Sony, the studio behind Wheel of Fortune, which appears to consider Sajak’s compensation already inflated.
Disappointment and Perception
White perceives the producers as viewing her as “replaceable” and lacking respect, leaving her disappointed in the decision-making process. The situation has underscored disparities in compensation and treatment within the industry.
