A Timeless Love Story: The Bond Girl and the Rockstar

Barbara Bach, the iconic Bond girl known for her role as Triple X, embarked on a different kind of adventure when she found her knight in shining armor – the legendary Ringo Starr. Now 77, Bach was at the peak of her career when she starred in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me, opposite Roger Moore’s James Bond.

In an interview with People in 1983, Bach characterized the Bond character as a “chauvinist pig who uses girls to shield him against bullets.” Moore himself admitted in 1973, during an interview with the same publication, that both he and Bond shared the traits of a male chauvinist pig. Despite their views on Bond’s character, Bach’s portrayal of a Bond girl made her an all-time favorite and opened doors for her acting career.

Before her appearance in The Spy Who Loved Me, Bach had roles in Italian films, including a 1971 Italian murder-mystery called Black Belly of the Tarantula, where she starred alongside other Bond girls. Bach’s role as Major Anya Amasova, a KGB agent, earned her further recognition and led to leading roles in films such as Mad Magazine Presents Up the Academy and Caveman, where she starred alongside her husband, Ringo Starr.

Contrary to their on-screen relationship, Bach and Starr’s real-life love story unfolded during the filming of Caveman. They got to know each other while flying to the movie set in Mexico and slowly transitioned from being friends to falling madly in love. Their connection was so strong that they decided never to spend any time apart, and their marriage took place only months after the tragic death of John Lennon.

Throughout their 40-year marriage, Bach and Starr have faced challenges together, including a near-fatal car accident and a joint journey to sobriety in 1988. Their love has endured, and in 2021, they celebrated their 40th anniversary surrounded by love from family and friends.

Beyond their personal bond, Bach and Starr share a passion for philanthropy. The couple actively runs The Lotus Foundation, a charity that supports various projects dedicated to animals, substance abuse, homelessness, and cancer. Starr, who is also an artist, donates 100 percent of his art sales to the foundation.

The love between Barbara Bach and Ringo Starr is truly inspirational, and we can’t wait to see what they continue to achieve together in their charity work and their lives. They show us that love knows no bounds, and with their unwavering commitment, they remind us of the power of love.
