Kirk Cameron Joins the Celebrity Exodus from California
Kirk Cameron, the “Growing Pains” actor, has joined the list of celebrities leaving California. On Wednesday, he announced his decision to depart the Golden State.
Reasons for Leaving
Cameron shared that he decided to move after witnessing California “moving in a particular direction for a long time” and causing “so much division.” The father of six revealed he relocated to Tennessee. He cited two reasons: three of his grown children live there, and he sought a place with a “healthy freedom mindset.”
Seeking a New Environment
“If everything hits the fan and there are serious economic problems and division, they want to be around people who are all about God, family, and country. Itโs a really nice place to be,” Cameron told the Washington Examiner.

Discovering Tennessee’s New Residents
Cameron discovered that Tennessee has “a lot of California refugees.” “Itโs shocking how many Californians are here. When I see them in the grocery store, I tell them, ‘Donโt California our Tennessee,'” he joked.
A Trend Among Celebrities
Like his sister Candace Cameron Bure, many have left California “for safety and security.” Cameron believes Tennessee, despite its influx of former California residents, remains desirable due to its “good wholesome values and, equally as important, good whiskey.”
