Pat Sajak Opens Up About Emergency Surgery
Pat Sajak, the host of “Wheel of Fortune,” recently shared his experience undergoing emergency surgery for a blocked bowel. In his first interview after the procedure, he spoke with “Good Morning America.”
Fearing the Worst
Sajak admitted that just before the surgery, he feared he might die. The ordeal began in November when he felt “excruciating” pain during a morning walk with his daughter. Within hours, the pain became unbearable, leading to his urgent surgery.
A Moment of Desperation
Recalling the intense discomfort, Sajak described lying in bed, curled up in a fetal position. Despite the doctors’ efforts to manage the pain with various drugs, nothing seemed to help. Eventually, they administered a painkiller that brought some relief.
A Surreal Experience
Sajak explained that after receiving the painkiller, his focus shifted away from the pain. He began seeing “beautiful colors” and felt a presence, as if a face was emerging from the colors. In the background, he heard his wife and daughter talking, but their voices sounded distant, almost as if they were miles away. He reflected on this surreal moment, thinking, “This must be what death feels like.”
