Combatting Mosquitoes: DIY Mosquito Trap
There’s nothing more annoying than trying to enjoy a summer evening in your backyard while mosquitoes attack. Their whining sounds and itchy bites can ruin the experience. Citronella candles offer only temporary relief. So, how can you get rid of these pests effectively?
DIY Mosquito Trap Ingredients
Make a homemade mosquito trap with these materials:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 gram of yeast
- An empty 2-liter bottle

Instructions
Step 1: Cut the plastic bottle in half.
Step 2: Mix the brown sugar with hot water. Let the solution cool, then pour it into the bottom half of the bottle.
Step 3: Add the yeast. This will create carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
Step 4: Place the funnel part upside down into the bottom half of the bottle. Tape them together if desired.
Step 5: Wrap the bottle with something black or paint it black, leaving the top uncovered. Place the bottle outside, away from your gathering area, as mosquitoes are drawn to black.
Step 6: Change the solution every two weeks to maintain mosquito control.
