On Sunday, a photo of the Republican vice presidential nominee wearing a blonde wig and a long dress went viral. The image drew significant attention, as it seemed to contradict the GOP’s frequent stance against drag and LGBTQ+ rights.

Santos Defends Vance

Not everyone criticized Vance. Republican U.S. Representative George Santos from New York defended him, stating that the photos were more of a goofy costume from a college party than actual drag. He told TMZ, “To call that drag is disingenuous, and I think most guys at some point have played around with gender-bending costumes. Couples do it all the time—wives dress as men, husbands as women. It’s definitely not drag.”
