She quickly gained recognition in Hollywood. Films like Salome, Where She Danced (1945) and Criss Cross (1949) established her as a glamorous leading lady. Her role as Moses’ wife, Sephora, in The Ten Commandments (1956) remains one of her most notable performances.

A Career Revived by The Munsters

Already a well-established actress, De Carlo found renewed fame as Lily Munster in The Munsters (1964-1966). The show became a cult classic. De Carlo acknowledged that the role revitalized her career and introduced her to a new generation of fans.

Personal Struggles

Despite her professional success, De Carlo’s personal life was difficult. She married stuntman Robert Morgan in 1955, and they had two sons, Bruce and Michael. In 1962, Morgan lost his leg during a stunt on How the West Was Won. De Carlo returned to work to support the family, though they divorced in 1973.

Loss and Later Life

In 1997, tragedy struck again when her son Michael died at age 39. This loss deeply affected her. She suffered a stroke in 1998 and withdrew from public life.

Legacy

Yvonne De Carlo passed away in January 2007 at age 84 from heart failure. Though remembered for her role as Lily Munster, she was much more than a TV star. De Carlo left a lasting legacy as a Hollywood icon from the 1940s and 1950s.
