New Safety Measures in TJX Stores

Next time you shop at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods, you might notice employees wearing body cameras. This step, introduced by TJX Companies, aims to boost safety for both customers and staff.

Supporting a Safe Environment

“Body cameras are just one of many ways we maintain a safe store environment,” a TJX spokesperson told Boston 25 News. “We use various policies, training, and procedures to ensure safety. We hope these cameras will help de-escalate incidents, deter crime, and show our commitment to store security.” Only trained employees will wear the cameras.

The Rationale Behind Body Cameras

Retail consultant Carol Spieckerman highlighted why TJX stores adopted this measure. She explained that their unpredictable inventory makes tracking difficult. “Their model revolves around an unpredictable, treasure-hunt experience, driving frequent visits,” she told the Boston Globe.

Use of Camera Footage

Although TJX hasn’t specified when the cameras will be activated, they clarified that video footage will only be shared with law enforcement or in response to a subpoena.
