Lasagna 🍝

• 1 package oven-ready lasagna noodles
• 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 🫒
• 1 container ricotta cheese 🧀
• 1/4 cup Italian parsley, chopped 🌿
• 1 beaten egg 🥚
• 1 package shredded mozzarella 🧀
• 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese 🧀
• 1 cup freshly grated grana padano 🧀

Meat Sauce 🥩

• 1 package lean ground beef
• Splash of dry red wine 🍷
• 1 tsp sugar 🍬
• 1 can tomato sauce (or crushed tomatoes) 🍅
• 1 chopped clove of garlic 🧄
• Salt and pepper 🧂⚫

Directions

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Add 2 tbsp of olive oil to a large baking dish.
2. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil and the chopped garlic over medium heat. Add the ground beef and tomato sauce. Stir in the sugar, salt, pepper, and a splash of dry wine. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 1 hour.

Ricotta Mixture

1. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta, beaten egg, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, salt, pepper, and parsley.

Assembling the Lasagna

1. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a large baking dish. Lay 3 noodles side-by-side on top.
2. Cover with 1/4 cup of the ricotta cheese mixture and 1/2 cup of tomato sauce. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan, and grana padano on top. Repeat these steps to make 2 more layers. On the final layer, add parsley on top.

Baking

1. Cover the dish and bake for 35-40 minutes. In the last few minutes, uncover the lasagna and bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
2. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
